Assault Battery Intentional Torts

Intentional torts occur when someone is injured by the intentional act of another. That is to say, intentional torts occur when someone does something to harm another on purpose and not by accident. Intentional torts include battery (intentional contact by one person with another which is harmful or offensive) assault (intentional threat of harmful or offensive contact with another by force), false imprisonment, conversion (civil theft of property), and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The lawyers at Orr McDonnell Law, PLLC have handled just about every type of intentional tort in Montana, including some which are not as common. In one case, our attorneys secured a sizable settlement against a governmental entity based on the claim of “intrusion upon seclusion,” an intentional tort for privacy violations.
