An Order of Protection (OOP) is an order from a court preventing another from violent, harassing, or illegal behavior. The order is intended to protect you and/or your minor children from someone who has harmed or threatened to harm you or them. Under Montana law, the Court will automatically grant a Temporary Order of Protection (TOP), before setting a hearing to determine whether to make the order continue for a fixed duration or terminate the OOP.
Our lawyers have vast experience in representing both sides, in preparing petitions for OOPs and arguing at the subsequent hearings. All of our attorneys have successfully litigated OOP matters. During his time as a substitute judge for the Missoula Municipal Court, Attorney Greg McDonnell has presided over several OOP hearings, ruling on the facts and evidence from the bench.
