Intentional torts occur when someone is injured by the intentional act of another. That is to say, intentional torts occur when someone does something to harm another on purpose and not by accident. Intentional torts include battery (intentional contact by one person with another which is harmful or offensive) assault (intentional threat of harmful or offensive contact with another by force), false imprisonment, conversion (civil theft of property), and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
